Hong Kong Invites Blockchain Experts

Who doesn’t welcome something good? Definitely not you! Likewise, so long you are adding value where you are going, the doors are always open for you. It is a common truth. In the same manner, the government of Hong Kong is making migrating and settling in Hong Kong much easier for blockchain professionals. Shouldn’t we learn more about this opportunity?

Yes, the Hong Kong government is structuring its immigration policy around seeking to accept more jobseekers with an expertise in blockchain. Hong Kong is unveiling its Talent List to attract high-performing software experts. Here, experts of 11 special professions will have easier entry into Hong Kong. These favored 11 professions include blockchain, artificial intelligence, robotics, as well as data engineering. Furthermore, the government views these skill sets as extremely vital for the economic development of the region.

The QMAS Program Opening the Door for Experts

Therefore, the government is attracting professionals from these categories facilitating immigration for them. The entire process is done via the Hong Kong’s Quality Migrant Admission Scheme (QMAS). Now, what is this QMAS program exactly?

This is a quota-based entrance scheme. It welcomes highly skilled professionals to Hong Kong in order to enhance its economic competitiveness. In addition to this, the QMAS has an allocation of 1000 successful applicants to come to Hong Kong and settle. The QMAS’s creation was 12 years ago in 2006.

Correspondingly, according to a statement from Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, chairman of Hong Kong’s Human Resources Planning Commission, “Hong Kong welcomes talents from all over the world with valuable skills, knowledge, and experience to work here, bringing their talent into full play and further developing their careers.”

Equally important, applicants for these schemes will have to meet some designated requirements by choosing to be rated under a “General Points Test” or an “Achievement-based Points Test.” In this way, the government will award special “bonus points” to specialists in blockchain technology.

More on the Opportunity

When applying for this opportunity, the applicant will have to offer substantial proof of financial independence as well as an educational background. Basically, pertaining to the said educational background, a degree from a recognized tertiary educational institution or a university will suffice. Persons with admirable technical skills or other proven professional abilities will enjoy special consideration. Preferably, these skills or abilities would become alternative qualifications to standard educational degrees.

In the light of this, successful applicants who are specialists in blockchain can enter Hong Kong without already having a job. Definitely, other job categories aside blockchain (as well as the remaining 10 specially selected professions) will not enjoy this soft treatment.
