On Tuesday, October 2nd, Player Tokens announced an important partnership with the U.S. Women’s National Team Players Association (USWNTPA). The duo together launched exciting digital collectibles that feature 26 members of the existing squad. Moreover, the partnership comes through REP Worldwide, the USWNTPA’s exclusive group licensing representation agency.
This partnership has a special significance because the USWNTPA Player Tokens are the first-of-its-kind digital collectibles featuring female athletes on a retail market. At launch, fans can buy these tokens individually or in a pack of three players starting at $3.99 USD.
Kush Parikh, founder and CEO of Player Tokens, said, “There is an untapped market for women’s sports collectibles and we are proud to be trailblazers.” He further expressed happiness in partnering with USWNTPA and developing Player Tokens for each of their existing team members.
Parikh added, “Our approach to growing the digital collectibles market in women’s soccer is focused on bringing our technology’s value and experiences to the hands of consumers. This partnership gives us the unique opportunity to interact with a diverse and engaged fan base.”
Every USWNTPA Player Tokens gets a unique Player ID connecting back to the blockchain. It also helps to solve the issues of ownership, scarcity, and authenticity of every asset.
More importantly, the larger goal is to bring Player Tokens experiences to soccer fans and communities all across the globe. Player Tokens weave the merit of both physical and digital worlds. It is a great milestone in the evolution of collectibles.
The digital nature of Player Tokens also allows fans to share them easily while also creating unique experiences with players.
For Player Tokens, the USWNTPA is the second-important partnership. The first one was with the Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) back in August 2018. It featured athletes from all 30 MLB teams.
The launch comes at a time when the US Women’s National Team enters the 2018 CONCACAF tournament.
“Player Tokens is a new innovative way for our players to connect with our passionate fan base. As we continue to break ground for women’s sports, especially fighting to make progress on the revenue and business side, we felt partnering with a progressive company like Player Tokens was a perfect fit,” said Meghan Klingenberg, U.S. Women’s National Team World Cup 2015 Champion, and REP Worldwide Advisory Board member.
